Biography
Bill Berry, a former associate with Quinn Emanuel, returned to the firm in 2008 after four years in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. While at the SEC, he led complex investigations of financial fraud, options-backdating, Ponzi schemes, and insider trading. He also took over 40 investigative testimonies of witnesses, including a former U.S. Senator, a convicted fraudster profiled on NBC, and numerous prominent board members, CEOs, and CFOS, as well as witnesses who asserted Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination in the face of ongoing, parallel criminal prosecutions. Mr. Berry also worked extensively with federal and state agencies, including the USAO, FBI, FTC, and FINRA, as well as the British Financial Services Authority (FSA).
Mr. Berry’s expertise, however, is not limited to SEC enforcement and securities litigation. Mr. Berry has prosecuted and litigated patents in such technologies as piezo-electric printer heads and ink jet cartridges, telecommunication networks, “Blue-Tooth” compatible software , bio-mechanical devices, internet-based online auction software, electrical motors, micro-electronic devices, gaming software, and on-line transfer of music and video.
