Biography

 

Jon Cederberg is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried over sixty cases throughout the country.  These trials have included securities fraud, bankruptcy fraud, RICO, Anti-Trust, and professional liability actions.

 

Mr. Cederberg is a former federal prosecutor with the United States Attorneys Office in Los Angeles and a widely known teacher of Trial Advocacy both with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and the United States Attorney General's Trial Advocacy Institute.  His present practice is largely focused on preparing for and trying business cases of all kinds.

 

Mr. Cederberg has resolved hundreds of civil and criminal cases prior to trial.  Representative cases include Rider v. Shohat, defense of criminal defense attorney sued for defamation by key government witness in the "Cotton Club" murder case; Cooperman v. National Union, defense of an art insurance broker in claim of bad faith arising out of theft of a Picasso and a Monet; Weil v. Transamerica, defense of broker in an antitrust case involving the structured settlement industry; and United States v. Sudikoff, prosecution of the chief executive officer and chief financial officer of  a large communications company for securities fraud, insider trading, and managed earnings violations.

Represented large garden products manufacturer in a three week antitrust case against a competitor in the Southern District of New York.

Represented a major independent film producer in a RICO and fraud action brought by a financier over the production of seventeen individual films.

Represented a major consumers catalog company in a trade dress case brought against a large competitor.

Represented a national sports radio network in a breach of contract action against a national advertising agency.

Represented a large banking institution in a breach of contract and unfair competition claim brought by a marketing company.

Represented an insurer against a major oil company in a coverage dispute involving a pollution exclusion clause in connection with the leak of a 10,000 gallon underground gas tank.

Represented a law firm in a legal malpractice action brought by a former client alleging mishandling of litigation.

Represented a prominent bankruptcy trustee in a legal malpractice action brought by a major creditor.

Represented a high net worth individual in a lender liability and fraud action against a large financial institution.

Prosecuted an attorney for bank fraud arising out of a savings and loan scandal.

Prosecuted an attorney for obstruction of justice arising out of his representation during a federal grand jury investigation.
