Biography

 

Aaron Craig's practice encompasses the full scope of intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright and entertainment cases.  Mr. Craig has also participated in significant antitrust and cost-accounting litigation.  Mr. Craig has practiced before the International Trade Commission in Washington D.C., in addition to federal and state courts throughout California.  Before joining Quinn Emanuel, Mr. Craig worked at Paramount Pictures in its Business and Legal Affairs Division.

Mr. Craig represents multinational corporate clients including Seiko Epson, Micron Technology, Nokia, Shell Oil, Johnson & Johnson and the Parsons Corporation




Notable Representations

 

Represented Seiko Epson Corporation in a Section 337 Investigation before the International Trade Commission against manufacturers and importers of ink cartridges for use with Epson printers that infringed Epson's patents.  Obtained general exclusion order and cease and desist orders banning sale for importation into the United States, importation into the United States and sale after importation into the United States of Epson-compatible ink cartridges that infringe any of eleven Epson patents.  Also pursued damages against infringers in District Court.
 

Represented Micron Technology in antitrust, patent and fraud litigation against Rambus relating to Dynamic Random Access Memory ("DRAM") products.  Rambus has accused Micron and several other manufacturers of patent infringement in cases pending in the Northern District of California.  Micron has alleged that Rambus has unlawfully monopolized certain technology markets and defrauded Micron and the entire DRAM industry, including by its deceptive usurpation of the standards-setting process.  The next phase of trial in this litigation is scheduled for January 2008.
 

Represented Nokia at the International Trade Commission against Qualcomm in a Section 337 Investigation relating to Qualcomm's unlawful importation and sale after importation of transmitter and receiver chips that infringe Nokia's patents.  The Investigation is in process.
 

Represented Shell Oil in a case pertaining to contract between Shell and a Southern California operator of multiple Shell service stations.  The operator has alleged that Shell guaranteed the operator a certain level of profitability prior to entering into the written agreement setting forth the terms under which the operator was to manage the service stations.  The case is pending in the Central District of California
 

Represented Parsons Corporation in litigation with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority relating to breach of contract, fraud and False Claims Act allegations involving the construction management of the Los Angeles Metro Rail Red Line.  Successfully obtained summary adjudication of all fraud allegations and all but one portion of the False Claims Act allegations.  The breach of contract claims in Superior Court of Los Angeles County are currently under submission to the Court.
 

Represented independent film producer Bauer Martinez in litigation against director John McTiernan relating to McTiernan's breach of his pre-production obligations for a theatrical motion picture.  The case settled on confidential terms shortly after the filing of the Complaint.
