Biography
Maria Ginzburg is a litigation partner in the New York office. Her practice is focused on complex disputes in the financial industry and related regulatory matters. Ms. Ginzburg handles civil cases, represents clients in investigations before the SEC, FINRA and New York Attorney General, and conducts internal investigations. She has experience involving a wide range of issues, including structured products, insider trading, short selling, PIPEs trading, market timing, fraudulent conveyance, Ponzi schemes, conflicts of interest, accounting and underwriting practices, suitability disputes, consumer fraud, whistleblower actions, corporate governance and employment matters. Defeated $1.5 billion fraudulent transfer challenge to secured bank debt of Capmark on behalf of the secured creditors’ committee; upheld pre-confirmation, all cash settlement of claims for $0.91/dollar over unsecured creditors’ objections.
Obtained dismissal of antitrust claims against major financial institution arising out of naked short selling practices.
Represented special committees of the boards of two prominent Jewish non-profits in connection with Ezra Merkin and Bernard Madoff matters. |
