Dr. Nadine E. Herrmann is Managing Partner of the Hamburg and Brussels offices and Chair of the firm’s EU and German Competition Law Practice. She is both a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwältin) and a Solicitor (England and Wales).
Dr. Herrmann specializes in IP and antitrust litigation. Her IP practice focuses on design, unfair competition, copyright and trade secret cases. In antitrust matters her practice is centered on the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law (e.g., FRAND licensing, including compulsory licenses and their enforcement), covering all aspects of German and European competition law. She has significant expertise representing clients in the high-tech and life sciences industries.
The author of a textbook on EU antitrust and German unfair competition law, Dr. Herrmann has been internationally recognized as an expert in IP and antitrust matters. She has practiced in Germany, the UK and the US.
Before joining Quinn Emanuel in 2012, Dr. Herrmann was a partner at Allen & Overy LLP for three years, where she headed the firm’s German Intellectual Property practice. She earned her doctorate degree from Philipps-Universität Marburg (summa cum laude) and her LL.M. from The University of Sydney.
In 2010, she was recognized as having one of the ‟25 leading careers” (Karriere des Jahres) in Germany by the Handelsblatt magazine and is listed in IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners 2013 as a leading attorney in Germany who is praised for her “keen analytical eye” and “impressive intellect.”
In 2011, she was recommended as one of the ‟Best Lawyers” in Germany for IP law by Handelsblatt/Legal Success. Law 360 named Dr. Herrmann a “Rising Star” in IP law in 2013.
