Dr. Nadine E. Herrmann is Managing Partner of the Hamburg office and Chair of the firm’s EU and German Competition Law Practice. She is a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwältin), an English solicitor (England and Wales) and a member of the Brussels bar.
Dr. Herrmann specializes in antitrust, intellectual property and other regulatory and commercial litigation at trial and appellate level.
She has broad experience in litigation and investigations, representing her clients before courts and regulators (including the European Commission, the German Federal Cartel Office and the German Financial Supervisory Authority). Her competition expertise covers all aspects of German and European competition law, including abuse of dominance cases. Dr. Herrmann has particular expertise in cases involving the intersection of IP and competition law. Her IP practice focuses on design, unfair competition, copyright and trade secret cases.
The author of a textbook on EU competition and German unfair competition law, Dr. Herrmann has been internationally recognized as an expert litigator. She has practiced in Germany, the UK, and the United States.
Before joining Quinn Emanuel in 2012, Dr. Herrmann was a partner at Allen & Overy LLP. She earned her Ph.D. in law from Philipps-Universität Marburg (summa cum laude) and her LL.M. from the University of Sydney.
In 2010, she was recognized as having one of the ‟25 leading careers” (Karriere des Jahres) in Germany by the Handelsblatt magazine and is listed in IAM Patent 1000 – The World‘s Leading Patent Practitioners 2013 as a leading attorney in Germany who is praised for her ‟keen analytical eye” and ‟impressive intellect.” In 2011, she was recommended as one of the ‟Best Lawyers” in Germany for IP law by Handelsblatt/Legal Success. She was listed by Best Lawyers 2015 for Germany in both Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law. That same year, she received an Individual Award from IAM 1000 – 2015 Edition. In 2016 she was named by Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers as one of “Germany’s Best Lawyers 2016” for Intellectual Property.
