Amar L. Thakur is an intellectual property trial lawyer who has tried significant patent cases to verdict. In 2012, as lead trial counsel, he obtained a $147.2 million jury verdict on behalf of his client, which was the 5th largest jury verdict in intellectual property cases in the U.S. in that year.
Mr. Thakur's litigation experience includes representation of companies in telecommunications/VOIP, medical devices, software and semiconductors in patent, trademark and commercial disputes. He has appeared before the federal courts throughout Arizona, California, Delaware, New York, Texas, Virginia and the International Trade Commission.
With substantial experience in acquisition of intellectual property and monetization of such assets, Mr. Thakur's practice focuses on the development and enforcement of patent portfolios, as well as creating partnerships between IP clients and private investors who can help to monetize promising patent portfolios. He is considered a pioneer in the development of new alternative fee strategies for patent litigation.
Mr. Thakur was recognized in 2013 as one of Southern California's "Super Lawyers."
