Biography
R. Brian Timmons specializes in high stakes complex corporate financial litigation nationwide. He currently serves as the National Co-Chair of Structured Finance Litigation for Quinn Emanuel and has represented clients in some of the country’s leading cases arising from CDO implosions, stock option back dating, structured notes, futures and options trading, currency and interest rate swaps, credit default and total return swaps, and a host of other complex derivatives. His engagements typically involve alleged securities laws violations, lender liability claims, complex financial fraud, alleged market manipulation, improper corporate governance, M&A-related actions, distressed investment and restructuring litigation, alleged accounting and audit firm liability, and other complex business disputes. With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Timmons has also represented clients in real estate litigation, class actions, internal investigations, employment litigation and white collar criminal matters. He was named one of Southern California's "Super Lawyers" in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by the Los Angeles Magazine.
Mr. Timmons began his legal career with Latham & Watkins, where he was elected a full equity partner after just 7 years. He interrupted his legal career to serve for 3 years as the President and CEO of Opega, Inc., an enterprise software company with operations and sales throughout the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Timmons was born and raised in rural Idaho and attended college on a football scholarship. He also received extensive training in corporate finance and economics as a graduate student before attending law school.
