We represented Mexico’s Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, in its case against Florida-based Telemundo, alleging that it tortiously interfered with Televisa’s exclusive agreement with one of Spanish-language television’s biggest stars. Summary judgment was granted to Telemundo at the trial level, but on appeal we convinced the Eleventh Circuit to reverse the decision, unanimously. The Eleventh Circuit ruled that Florida law applies even though the interfered-with contract was entered in a foreign country and governed by foreign law. The case was remanded for trial and scheduled for early 2008.
