Marlo A. Pecora is a partner in Quinn Emanuel’s New York office.  Ms. Pecora is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer, and her practice spans a variety of subject matters, including contract disputes, structured finance, securities, investment management, trade secret misappropriation, healthcare, and intellectual property disputes. 

Ms. Pecora has argued and appeared in state and federal courts, litigating on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, and has had a leading role in multiple month-long trials—both jury and bench—throughout her career.  She has represented clients in a variety of high-profile securities litigations, including matters resulting in billion-dollar settlements stemming from the 2008 financial crisis.

Veeva Systems Inc.: Represents IQVIA, a leading provider of information, services, and technology in the health care field, in pursuing claims of trade secret theft and misappropriation in federal court while simultaneously defending IQVIA against claims of monopolization and anticompetitive conduct brought by one of its competitors. 
  • BMC Software, Inc. v. International Business Machines Corp.: Defending IBM in the Southern District of Texas against a $700 million contract claim brought by competitor software manufacturer BMC.
  • Federal Housing Finance Agency v. Nomura: Successfully represented the Federal Housing Finance Agency in its capacity as Conservator to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in connection with landmark litigation regarding private label residential mortgage backed securities purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  FHFA settled over fifteen cases and recovered approximately $20 billion for the American taxpayer, including an $800 judgment resulting from a trial in the Southern District of New York against Nomura and Royal Bank of Scotland.
  • MASTR Adjustable Rate Mortgages Trust 2006-OA2 et al v. UBS: Represented plaintiff in a one-month trial in the Southern District of New York in a breach of warranty action regarding several mortgage-backed securities trusts.
  • Pfizer, Inc. v. Amgen Fremont: Represented Pfizer, Inc. in an action brought against Amgen Fremont, Inc. (f/k/a Abgenix, Inc.) and Amgen, Inc. related to the prosecution of patents claiming certain monoclonal antibodies discovered during the course of a research program carried out jointly by Pfizer and Abgenix.
