Matt Scheck has extensive experience in all aspects of complex business bankruptcies, bankruptcy-related litigation, and financial litigation. Mr. Scheck has represented companies, investment funds, liquidating trusts, statutory committees, and corporate officers and directors in high-stakes disputes. He has also advised hedge funds and other investors in connection with some of the nation’s largest bankruptcy cases. His engagements include key representations in: Peabody Energy, ResCap, RadioShack, SemGroup, Lyondell, Lehman Brothers, Dynegy, Spectrum Brands, General Motors, and Enron. Prior to joining the firm, Matthew clerked for the Honorable Robert D. Drain in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

- Representing the ResCap Liquidating Trust in scores of actions against correspondent lenders, relating to the origination and sale of billions of dollars of defective residential mortgages.
- Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. in litigation against JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., seeking return of $8.6 billion of cash and cash equivalent collateral.
- Represented current and former officers and directors of Lukoil North Americas in a fraudulent conveyance and breach of fiduciary duty suit brought by creditors of its former subsidiary, Getty Petroleum Marketing, Inc.
- Represented several financial investors in pursuing recoveries related to mortgage-backed securities.
- Regularly advises hedge funds and other investors in connection with some of the nation’s largest bankruptcy cases and restructurings.
