Dr. Carsten Witzke is a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwalt), based in the firm’s Hamburg office. He specializes in complex commercial litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on corporate law and the defense of collective redress actions.

Carsten has extensive courtroom experience. He has argued over 300 cases in front of international arbitral tribunals and state courts across the country. He has also conducted numerous preliminary proceedings and has repeatedly advised clients in cases pending at the German Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof).

Carsten’s corporate litigation and arbitration expertise includes domestic and cross-border shareholder litigation as well as post M&A, joint venture and insolvency-related disputes. He has also acted on the defense side in several high-profile collective redress proceedings.

Carsten has been named a “Future Leader Litigation” 2018 and 2019 by Who’s Who Legal and has been “recommended” by Legal 500 Germany for Dispute Resolution in 2017 and 2018. In the 12th Edition of The Best Layers in Germany (2021 Edition) Carsten was ranked for Litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Carsten was a member of the Litigation Department of another top-tier US law firm for over ten years.
