Katy Akopjan is Of Counsel in Quinn Emanuel's New York office. Her diverse practice includes intellectual property disputes, complex commercial litigation, cross-border matters and white collar defense. Her intellectual property experience includes copyright, trademark, trade dress, and trade secret disputes. Katy also has extensive experience in various stages of Section 1782 discovery proceedings. Katy has represented clients in a wide range of industries including technology and social media companies, foreign financial institutions, foreign and domestic telecommunication companies, transportation companies and entertainment management companies. She has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts and arbitration proceedings.

- Currently representing X in Middle District of Tennessee in a copyright case brought by major music publishers based on alleged sharing of music files on the X platform.
- Currently representing Perplexity AI in copyright case brought by major publishing companies.
- Secured a temporary restraining order for Pop Mart in a plaintiff-side trademark and copyright case against 7-Eleven regarding counterfeit LABUBU and other POP MART products in 7-Eleven stores.
- Successfully defended Zazzle in a lawsuit brought by a font designer asserting copyright, trademark, fraud, and contract claims arising from Zazzle’s claimed use of a font trio in its design tool.
- Represented a major internet service provider in three copyright cases brought by major record companies and music publishers alleging secondary infringement based on customers’ use of peer-to-peer file-sharing technologies.
- Represented an international bank in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (“FIFA”) global criminal investigations.
- Represented a prominent Swiss private bank in the investigation involving Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (“1MDB”).
