Marla Blum represents clients in high-stakes commercial litigation and arbitration, white collar criminal defense, and government and internal investigations. Her practice includes cross-jurisdictional disputes, emergency motions, and complex pretrial briefing. She has experience preparing witnesses for government interviews, trials, and high-stakes hearings; opposing emergency relief, including a bet-the-company motion for trustee process; and developing the strategy for and drafting successful motions to compel, dismiss, and for summary judgment. She has worked on cases involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, employment disputes, breach of contract, business torts, wire fraud, and false claims act violations.
Marla brings to her practice the legal sophistication of a federal clerk, combined with practical instincts and deep operational knowledge of how to manage a case from the ground up—skills honed through years of experience as a senior litigation paralegal before becoming an attorney. This blend of strategic thinking and hands-on fluency makes her a pragmatic and valued member of complex litigation teams.
Before joining the firm, Marla clerked for the Honorable Mark L. Wolf and practiced at another international law firm, where she was a member of the trial team representing a parent indicted in the “Varsity Blues” college admissions case. That client’s conviction was later reversed on appeal on nearly all charges.
Marla maintains an active pro bono practice. She has assisted with post-conviction habeas relief efforts for an individual on death row and obtained asylum for a survivor of gang violence in Central America.
She earned her J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School, where she was awarded a Dean’s Scholar prize, and served as a teaching fellow for a course on the legal architecture of money.
