Bevin Brennan is of counsel in Quinn Emanuel’s Chicago office. Bevin’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including cases involving contracts, employment disputes, construction disputes, class actions, product liability claims, trade secrets, mass torts and bankruptcy proceedings. Bevin has tried many cases in both federal and state courts around the country. Bevin has also handled many matters pro bono, including recently obtaining a pardon for a client from the governor of Illinois.
Financial Instrument-Related Claims
- Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction on behalf of a construction company against actions taken by factoring company
- Obtained favorable result after trial for bondholders against claims seeking approximately $2 billion in recovery relating to bonds issued pursuant to Nova Scotia law in GM bankruptcy proceedings
Partnership & Shareholder Disputes
- Achieved favorable settlement of claims by former partner against telecom company seeking over $10 million
Employment Issues
- Successfully defeated claim for a temporary restraining order and injunction based on alleged violation of restrictive covenants in employment agreements for data security company
Class Action Claims
- Representing individual affiliated with closed bitcoin exchange against claims of former users of the exchange, including denial of class certification
- Achieved denial of class action certification for claims brought pursuant to state consumer fraud act relating to collection of sales tax for major retailer
Bankruptcy Court Claims
- Achieved settlement of claim in bankruptcy of cash management firm after ten years of litigation relating to safe harbor provisions and forex activity
- Successfully defended claims brought against telecom company located in the Republic of Georgia in bankruptcy court that otherwise threatened reorganization
