Mr. Cederberg has been trying civil and criminal cases throughout the country for the last 35 years. He is a former federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney's Office in Los Angeles who spent ten years trying white collar fraud cases. He is a widely known teacher of Trial Advocacy both with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and the United States Attorney General’s Trial Advocacy Institute. Since joining Quinn Emanuel in 2001 he has successfully tried several fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and antitrust cases to verdict. His present practice is largely focused on preparing for and trying complex business cases of all kinds.
Mr. Cederberg is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
- Successfully defended Micron Technology, Inc. in a true “bet the company” Antitrust case during a four month jury trial in San Francisco Superior Court against Rambus, Inc. Rambus asserted claims for violations of the Cartwright Act and sought $4 billion in compensatory damages, trebled to $12 billion as well as other relief. The jury rejected these claims and awarded no damages.
- Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of Dubai World in a jury trial brought by former employee alleging fraud, abuse of process and defamation arising out of a criminal prosecution brought by the Dubai Government.
- Associating in as trial counsel two weeks after trial started, represented plaintiff, a real estate developer in an action against a large commercial landlord for tortious interference with contractual relationship concerning construction of a competing shopping center. Jury reward verdict for $89 million +, including punitive damages.
- Represented Plaintiff and Counter-Defendant in a court trial in cross-actions for trade dress and false advertising claims arising out of competing retail catalogues.
- Obtained complete defense jury verdict in a four week antitrust trial in the Southern District of New York where Plaintiff was seeking over $250 million in damages to be trebled.
- Successfully defended Insurance Company in a jury trial by oil company under an environmental insurance policy to pay for clean-up of substantial underground leak into San Francisco Bay from a 10,000 gallon gas tank at a Union Oil station. Policy had a pollution exclusion clause and central issue was whether the underground leak was sudden and accidental or slow and continuous.
- Successfully defended well known Orange County law firm in a legal malpractice jury trial brought by former client against several underlying law firms in relation to prior representations in a suit by plaintiff against large shopping mall. Defense verdict.
- Successfully defended in a jury trial conducted in bankruptcy court an attorney who, as trustee in bankruptcy, allegedly committed legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty in an action brought by the bankrupt estates' major creditor claiming the advancement of $2,000 could have preserved assets worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
