Maja is a Senior Associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Sydney office. She joined the firm in 2018. Maja’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation including shareholder disputes, insolvency and restructuring, regulatory investigations, insurance and challenging government decisions. Maja has also acted on behalf of numerous pro bono clients, including community organizations and charities.
Prior to joining the firm, Maja worked as a commercial litigation lawyer in Brisbane and as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Murphy of the Family Court (Court of Appeal).
Maja holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Master of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Melbourne. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence and graduated in the top 4% of her graduating cohort.
Maja is dual qualified to practice law in Australia as well as at the State Bar of New York.

- Currently representing Australia Eastern Railway Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Aurizon Holdings Ltd, in contractual dispute against Genesee & Wyoming Inc in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
- Currently representing and advising a joint venture company in an action against the relevant State government for damages caused to substratum of land which was compulsorily acquired.
- Currently representing and advising a global investment firm against former owners of a portfolio company engaged in the provision of pharmaceutical services to a franchise of pharmacies in respect of claims for breach of restraints, and non payment of ongoing fees due under the sale agreements.
- Successfully resolved a rail haulage company in a multi million dollar contractual dispute concerning a rail haulage agreement in a confidential expert determination.
- Represented Santos Energy in which the court granted permission to proceed with the construction of an undersea pipeline, which is crucial to the development of the $5.8 billion Barossa gas project..
- Acted for a Bain Capital portfolio company in a shareholder dispute and minority oppression claim including an application for discovery under §1782 of Title 28 of the US Code.
- Represented Connective, Australia’s major mortgage aggregator and non-bank home loan-provider, in oppression proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
- Acted for the managing director of a major asset-based lender in complex multi-jurisdiction litigation including receiver examinations, Supreme Court proceedings by the receiver, class action proceedings by debenture-holders and an AAT appeal.
- Represented and advised multiple clients in professional indemnity claims, both in a defence and plaintiff capacity, against legal, accounting and valuation advisors.
