James Elliott is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s London office. He joined the firm in 2026. His practice focuses on international arbitration and complex commercial disputes.
James has particular experience in energy and infrastructure disputes. He has represented clients in construction and engineering disputes concerning mega-projects (including nuclear, oil and gas, desalination and transport projects), as well as M&A, joint venture and shareholder disputes in a wide range of other sectors. James has experience in arbitrations governed or administered by many of the major arbitral rules and institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, DIAC, HKIAC and UNCITRAL rules, as well as in Dispute Adjudication Board proceedings under FIDIC rules. He has represented clients in disputes governed by a variety of laws, including those of England & Wales, Hong Kong, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Prior to joining the firm, James trained then worked at another international law firm in London before working for over two years in that firm’s Abu Dhabi office.
James studied History at the University of Oxford before obtaining various postgraduate legal qualifications, including an LLM from Queen Mary University of London in International Dispute Resolution, focusing on international arbitration.
