Peter H. Fountain is a partner in Quinn Emanuel’s New York office. Peter represents companies and individuals in a variety of high stakes disputes, with a focus on mergers & acquisitions and financial services litigation.
Peter’s notable representations include:
- Obtained complete dismissal with prejudice for Citadel Securities in multidistrict litigation alleging conspiracy with Robinhood to restrict trading in GameStop and other “meme stocks,” then successfully represented Citadel Securities in connection with plaintiffs’ appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
- Obtained a preliminary injunction for Ingersoll Rand enforcing a non-compete in Colorado, a state in which non-competes are presumptively void, for which Peter was named “Litigator of the Week”: Ingersoll Rand Enforces a Noncompete Against an Exec Who Jumped Ship to Verboten Competitor
- Obtained an unprecedented apology from the Internal Revenue Service in lawsuit arising from the IRS’s unlawful disclosure of Kenneth C. Griffin’s confidential tax information to ProPublica, for which Peter was named “Litigator of the Week”: Eliciting a Mea Culpa From the IRS For Citadel Founder Over Leaked Tax Records
- Obtained favorable settlement for Shawn Carter in dispute with Bacardi concerning the valuation of Mr. Carter’s 50% ownership of luxury cognac D’Usse.
Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Peter was a litigation associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and a law clerk for the Honorable Dora L. Irizarry, Chief United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York. He graduated from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and finalist in the school’s Harlan Fiske Stone moot court competition.
