Razmig Izakelian is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Los Angeles office.  Razmig’s practice includes all areas of corporate insolvency, reorganization, and related litigation. 

He advises a wide range of clients, including companies, banks, private investment firms, asset management firms, hedge funds, insurance brokers, pension funds, law firms, investment bankers, individuals, and pro bono service providers in federal and state courts.  Razmig also has extensive experience advising debtors-in-possession as both general bankruptcy counsel and special litigation counsel, creditor committees, and litigation trusts.  Additionally, Razmig has substantial experience representing secured creditors, unsecured creditors, and equityholders in bankruptcy cases.  Razmig further has vast experience in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes cases.  Razmig has secured a complete defense victory, resulting in no liability, in a seven figure fraud case following a lengthy jury trial in which he acted as first chair. 

Razmig has been named by SuperLawyers as a Southern California Rising Star from 2021 through 2023.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Izakelian served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Sandra R. Klein in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.  Mr. Izakelian earned his law degree in 2013 from Loyola Law School cum laude, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Chief Research Editor of the Loyola Law Review. 

  • Desolation Holdings. Razmig represented Bittrex, Inc. and its affiliated debtors as general bankruptcy counsel. In these bankruptcy cases, Quinn Emanuel negotiated and executed the first ever DIP loan both made and payable in cryptocurrency, resolved claims asserted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, resolved various regulatory issues with the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and other state agencies, and effectuated a plan that pays all creditors 100% of their allowed claims.
  • Orexigen Therapeutics. Quinn Emanuel represented secured creditors in the Orexigen bankruptcy and briefed the Third Circuit on a matter of first impression regarding the permissibility of triangular setoffs under section 553 of the Bankruptcy Code. The result was a complete victory, and the Third Circuit issued the only Circuit-level published decision on that issue. In re Orexigen Therapeutics, Inc., 990 F.3d 748 (3d Cir. 2021).   • Parker v. IGT. Razmig was lead defense counsel for two defendants in a multi-million fraud and fraudulent transfer case. He managed the entire case and first-chaired a week-and-half-long jury trial. The result was a complete defense victory.
  • Cinemex. Quinn Emanuel was lead bankruptcy counsel for the Cinemex debtors, which operated a movie theater chain and filed bankruptcy following the outbreak of COVID-19 and the associated lockdown orders in various states. Within six months of filing, Quinn Emanuel renegotiated a number of leases and various other issues and confirmed a plan of reorganization.
