Asher S. McGuffin is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Boston office. He specializes in patent, trade secret, and antitrust litigation as well as other complex litigation involving technology. Asher has extensive experience with bet-the-company patent and trade secret trials. His ability to understand clients’ technology enables him to achieve outstanding legal outcomes in areas including semiconductor design and manufacturing, computer architecture, graphics, databases, communications, optics, control systems, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Before joining Quinn Emanuel, Asher was an associate in the IP litigation department of another international law firm for several years. He clerked for the Honorable Jennifer L. Hall of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware—one of the busiest courts for patent litigation in the country. During law school, Asher worked as a technical specialist in the patent litigation department of another international law firm.
Before becoming a lawyer, Asher worked as an engineer on cutting-edge projects. He designed autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles, researched the applications of spinning light in Boston University’s High Dimensional Photonics Lab, and helped launch a startup involving state of the art fiber-optic communication systems. His work led to multiple patents.
