Trevor J. Quist is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Salt Lake City office. His practice focuses on high-stakes patent and trade secret litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Quist practiced at two global law firms in Silicon Valley. He also spent valuable time as an extern to the Honorable Judge David Sam at the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
Mr. Quist holds engineering degrees in three different fields: Biomedical Engineering (B.S.), Electrical Engineering (M.S.), and Mechanical Engineering (M.S.). With a deep technical background, Mr. Quist has naturally been involved in disputes concerning a broad range of technology.
- Biotech and life sciences: DNA sequencing, radiotherapy and brachytherapy, medical applicators, surgical tools, drug delivery systems, livestock vitals monitoring devices
- Mobile and telecom: RF filter design, baseband processing, power storage, antenna design, ETSI/3GPP standards
- Computer hardware: memory, graphics processing units, semiconductor and circuit design, communication ports
- Computer software: computer vision, security protocols, video codec, image conversion, blockchain, DeFi
- Automobile and transportation: autonomous vehicles, compartment design, vehicle vision, lurch control, EV charging, railcar surveillance and monitoring
In the courtroom, Mr. Quist is technically agile and quick on his feet. He is swift to read his audience and convey complex technologies in a digestible manner.
Mr. Quist is licensed in California (Bar. No. 304416), Utah (Bar. No. 17102), and before the USPTO (Reg. No. 75,856). When not appearing in California and Utah courts, Mr. Quist also represents clients in district courts throughout the country, including most recently in Texas, Delaware, and Virginia.
