Firm News

Christopher Clore joins firm as Of Counsel in the New York office, focusing on white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement and government investigations, and civil litigation.

NEW YORK – Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, the world’s undisputed leader in business litigation, announced today that Christopher J. Clore has joined the firm as Of Counsel.  A highly experienced trial lawyer, Clore joins Quinn Emanuel from the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, a prestigious posting whose jurisdiction includes Manhattan, the Bronx and several surrounding counties.

At Quinn Emanuel, Clore will focus on white collar criminal matters, regulatory enforcement proceedings, government investigations, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation, the firm said. He will be resident in the firm’s New York office.

“We are delighted to have Chris on our team. He’s a rising star with an impressive background and is well-positioned to advise our clients in a wide variety of sensitive matters,” said Michael Carlinsky, Global Co-Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel. “Chris knows his way around a courtroom, and he has got the litigation chops to deliver for our clients.”

While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Clore investigated and prosecuted a wide range of crimes, including market manipulation, wire fraud, racketeering, and narcotics trafficking. He tried five criminal cases to verdict, authored appellate briefs, and argued appeals before the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Clore also acted as Chief of the Office’s Narcotics Unit and Violent & Organized Crime Unit. He played a leading role in several of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s larger gang-related prosecutions, including the prosecution of multiple members of the MacBallas, a violent subset of the larger Bloods organization. Members of the MacBallas were charged with numerous offenses, including racketeering, murder, attempted murder, narcotics trafficking, and firearms offenses.

As a Unit Chief, he regularly oversaw significant and sensitive investigations and prosecutions involving complex narcotics trafficking and money laundering schemes as well as racketeering and firearms offenses. He also supervised multiple trials, reviewing jury addresses, prepping witnesses for cross-examination, and providing broader insight concerning trial strategy.

Prior to joining the Southern District of New York, Clore was an associate with Bracewell LLP and with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.

“I am truly excited about this next step in my career. As litigation firms go, Quinn Emanuel is in a class by itself. I am looking forward to working with the best trial lawyers in the private sector,” Clore said.
