A 10-year veteran of the firm, McCaffrey joins Michael Liftik in managing the thriving Washington, D.C. office, helping guide business development, recruitment and office growth.
WASHINGTON – Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP – widely acknowledged as the world’s pre-eminent business litigation firm – announced today that Meghan A. McCaffrey has been named Co-Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
McCaffrey, whose practice focuses on complex business disputes and multi-billion-dollar commercial litigation in federal and state courts, joined Quinn Emanuel as an associate in 2014. She will manage the office alongside Co-Managing Partner Michael Liftik.
“In an exciting time of change at our firm, Meghan represents the next generation of leadership for us. She is an outstanding lawyer and an esteemed colleague, and I know she will do a fantastic job helping lead our Washington office,” said William A. Burck, the firm’s Global Co-Managing Partner.
“I am honored to be appointed Co-Managing Partner and am eager to help grow our practice in Washington, D.C., where we continue to be the go-to firm for high-stakes matters, ranging from antitrust and white collar matters to complex intellectual property disputes,” McCaffrey said. “We have 94 of the best litigators to be found inside the Beltway or, indeed, anywhere. I look forward to continuing to strategically expand our office, our platform, and our presence in the Greater D.C. area.”
McCaffrey’s experience spans a wide range of industries, including the defense, government, pharmaceutical, marine, construction, and consumer products sectors. Her work has involved handling high-profile matters such as the Fukushima nuclear accident, the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. She also has extensive experience conducting, representing and counseling companies, individuals, and senior executives on sensitive internal and government investigations relating to a variety of subjects, including the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”), and other complex civil and criminal matters. McCaffrey earned her J.D. with Honors from the University of Texas Law School.
“I’ve worked closely with Meghan since I joined Quinn Emanuel and have witnessed first-hand her skills as a tenacious advocate and a tremendous team-builder. Her leadership in the Washington, D.C. office has been apparent for years, and I am thrilled that we have formalized this role,” said Liftik. “Additionally, I want to thank Michael Lyle for his many years of service as office Managing Partner.”
