Several QE London Attorneys Nominated in "Disputes Team of the Year" Category at The British Legal Awards 2024

Congratulations to Quinn Emanuel London’s Aidan O'Rourke, Nikolas Bruce-Smith, Juliet Bull, Jack Skilbeck, and Sofía Díaz de Aguilar Puiggarí who - following shortlistings in every major UK legal award this season - are now officially part of the “Class of 2024” at this year’s The British Legal Awards 2024!

The team has been nominated in the “Disputes Team of the Year” category for their incredible work on behalf of our clients, a group of investors in litigation against the Republic of Argentina, successfully obtaining judgment in excess of €1.5 billion (together with indemnity costs). This was a mammoth case – a decade in the making – that arose out of Argentina’s 2005 restructuring of more than $80 billion in sovereign debt and the country’s subsequent non-payment of GDP-linked Sovereign Bonds in 2014 (Palladian Partners, L.P. and others v. The Republic of Argentina and another (FL-2019-000010)).

This case required extensive engagement with experts in numerous disciplines, great skill synthesizing and presenting complex issues into winning arguments that underscored our clients’ case, and enormous patience and creativity (sometimes in the face of such disadvantages as the opposing side destroying vital data).
