Quinn Emanuel Associate Isaac Saidel-Goley Named "Litigator of the Week" After Overturning 40-Year-Old Wrongful Conviction

Firm News

Congratulations to Quinn Emanuel Associate Isaac Saidel-Goley on being named this week's "Litigator of the Week" by The American Lawyer!

Isaac, along with Radha Natarajan and Stephanie Hartung of the New England Innocence Project and Nigel Tamton of Skadden, secured a monumental victory for justice after a Massachusetts court overturned Edward "Eddie" Wright's 1985 murder conviction.

In his 31-page decision, Judge Jeremy Bucci found that "the prosecution knowingly and intentionally withheld significant exculpatory evidence" about a break-in at the crime scene—which occurred between the victim's death and when investigators collected the shoeprint tiles that became the only forensic evidence used to convict Wright.

Isaac shares: "Eddie Wright is an inspiration. For 40 years, he has endured unimaginable injustice in the form of wrongful imprisonment. He has responded not with hate, but with humanity. Through it all, he lifted others, stood firm in his truth and never gave up the fight. That fight is not yet over, but today we celebrate a crucial victory—hard-fought and long overdue."

"Through peaks and valleys, Eddie has remained my inspiration," Isaac notes. "He never gave up. And neither did we."
