Quinn Emanuel Of Counsel Dawn Yamane Hewett to Speak at the University of Miami Law Review’s 2019 Symposium: “Sin Límites: Law and Business at the Gateway to the Americas”

Events

Quinn Emanuel’s Washington, D.C.-based Of Counsel Dawn Yamane Hewett will be speaking at the University of Miami Law Review’s 2019 Symposium, “Sin Límites: Law and Business at the Gateway to the Americas,” on February 9, 2019, in Miami, Florida. The event is designed to examine the ways that local attorneys guide their clients through cross-border investments and disputes, as well as the growth in international career opportunities that will accompany Miami’s transition from a regional hub to a hemispheric innovation center. Dawn will be participating as a panelist focusing on Miami as a “base camp” for international litigation and arbitration practices and as a potential forum for mediation. The key issues considered will be whether clients should litigate abroad or take the case to an arbitration forum; weighing the costs and benefits of litigation versus arbitration; whether parties will be able to enforce foreign judgments abroad despite success in trial or arbitration; and considering whether Miami will catch up with New York as a seat for Latin American arbitrations.

When: February 9, 2019
Where: University of Miami, Donna E. Shalala Student Center (1330 Miller Drive, Miami, FL 33146)
