Quinn Emanuel Team Secures Victory for Tesla and CEO Elon Musk in 9th Circ.

🏆 A Quinn Emanuel team led by New York Partner Ellyde Thompson secured a victory for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, successfully defeating and defending a suit alleging that investors were misled about the capabilities, safety, and development timeline of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Capability technology. 

The Case: In September 2024, Quinn Emanuel, on behalf of Tesla and Musk, won the initial dismissal of a lawsuit claiming the defrauding of investors by overstating the capabilities, safety, and development timeline of the company’s Full Self-Driving Capability technology to boost stock price. 

The Result: In December 2025, the Ninth Circuit affirmed the dismissal, holding that plaintiffs failed to adequately allege falsity and scienter.
