Jimmy is Partner in Quinn Emanuel’s Los Angeles and Dallas offices. He joined the firm in 2014. Prior to joining the firm, Jimmy attended UCLA School of Law, where he graduated in the top 1% of his class.
Jimmy has experience with a broad range of complex commercial litigation and arbitration disputes in a variety of industries, with an emphasis on high-stakes life-sciences litigation, intellectual property litigation, corporate governance, and white collar defense.
Jimmy is a seasoned trial attorney and has tried several cases to verdict in state and federal court, and in arbitration. He has secured numerous victories for clients on the plaintiff and defense side, and has helped recover hundreds of millions in damages for his clients. Jimmy also successfully defended clients in some of the largest FCPA and money laundering cases in history.
Jimmy was recently trial counsel for the former shareholders of Syntimmune, Inc., and obtained a nearly $400 million bench verdict against Alexion Pharmaceuticals in Delaware Chancery Court—one of the largest verdicts ever obtained in a life sciences earnout dispute. He also served as trial counsel for ChemImage, Inc., which recently obtained a $90 million bench verdict against Ethicon, Inc., in a breach of contract case involving medical imaging technology.

- Trial counsel for ChemImage, Inc., in a breach of contract dispute against Ethicon, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson; obtained $90 million bench verdict for ChemImage, plus attorney’s fees.
- Represented NantCell and related companies in litigation and arbitrations against Sorrento Therapeutics which resulted in a $170 million verdict for NantCell and Sorrento filing for bankruptcy and being liquidated after initiating the litigation seeking over $1 billion in damages.
- Represented cybersecurity company in patent infringement and false advertising lawsuit; invalidated opposing party’s patents and obtained dismissal of patent infringement claims.
- Representing multiple pharmaceutical companies in litigation and arbitration relating to the development and transfer of rights to oncology drug candidates, fusion protein technology, and monoclonal antibodies.
- Represented Fiat-Chrysler America in an antitrust lawsuit against Yazaki, Corp.; the litigation settled favorably before trial.
- Represented pharmaceutical company sued for patent infringement over gene therapy treatment; obtained summary judgment invalidating opposing party’s patents.
- Representing Nektar Therapeutics against Eli Lilly in a drug development contract dispute.
- Represented BSI SA and EFG International in investigations related to alleged money laundering and theft from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund.
- Represented BSI SA in a program between the United States and Switzerland to resolve criminal liability of Swiss banks that helped Americans evade taxes.
