James is counsel in Quinn Emanuel’s Paris office. He joined the firm in 2017. James has specialist international commercial arbitration expertise, focused on disputes in the oil and gas, infrastructure, construction, aviation and banking sectors. He represents clients in arbitrations under the rules of major arbitration centers (ICC, SIAC, SCC etc.) and in ad hoc arbitrations (under the UNCITRAL Rules). James has also acted as sole arbitrator under the NAI Rules and as Tribunal secretary under the ICC Rules. He is a Paris Avocat, a Solicitor of England and Wales and a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Victoria (Australia). James was ranked by Legal 500 EMEA as a Recommended Individual for Dispute Resolution: International Arbitration in France in their 2025 rankings.
