Kevin Jang is an experienced Intellectual Property litigator in Quinn Emanuel’s San Francisco office.  Kevin represents clients in patent litigations in both federal courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC) and in private licensing disputes.  Having joined Quinn Emanuel in 2015 with a dual degree in Electrical Computer Engineering and Computer Science, Kevin has been a core member of high-profile patent disputes, including Qualcomm v. Apple, Sonos v. Google, and MediaTek v. NXP

Kevin has extensive trial experience.  At trials, Kevin develops and executes trial strategies, including by preparing and conducting examinations of key fact and expert witnesses.  Leading up to the trials, Kevin manages discovery and pretrial tasks, prepares and argues discovery motions, and spearheads technical arguments, including by architecting infringement/non-infringement, validity/invalidity, and claim construction strategies.  Kevin also has substantial experience leading expert discovery, preparing expert reports and taking and defending the depositions of technical and damages experts. 

Outside of litigation, Kevin represents clients in licensing disputes and helps clients develop IP strategies.  Kevin has led licensing negotiations on behalf of one of the world’s largest memory chip makers. 

Utilizing his technical background in both hardware and software, Kevin has represented clients in disputes involving a wide variety of technology, including semiconductors, High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), artificial intelligence, machine learning, GPU/CPU architectures, EV batteries, image processing, digital rights management, and light emitting diodes. 

Kevin’s experience and accomplishments were nationally recognized by Law360, which selected Kevin as a Rising Star in 2023.  Kevin was also Ranked in The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for Patent Litigation in 2023-2025.    

Kevin received a dual B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Duke University and received J.D. from Columbia Law School.  Kevin is fluent in Korean and frequently visits Korea.
