Lakshana R is a dual-qualified lawyer (England & Wales and India) with expertise in international arbitration, encompassing both commercial and investment treaty matters, as well as complex cross-border litigation.
Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel in 2023, she spent three years as an Associate at a pre-eminent law firm in Mumbai, representing clients in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations (including under UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, LCIA and SIAC Rules) seated in both common law and civil law jurisdictions.
Lakshana has extensive experience representing sovereign states and private investors in international disputes across various sectors—including oil and gas, finance and infrastructure—spanning multiple jurisdictions and diverse applicable laws. This includes investment treaty claims brought by a British-Indian investor against a Middle Eastern state and treaty claims brought against India and former Soviet states by foreign investors.
She is presently involved in several high-profile investment treaty arbitrations, where she leads expert evidence workstreams spanning forensic science, geophysics, quantum and foreign law, and drafts witness statements and written submissions. She has also acted in a seven-week English High Court trial concerning an unfair prejudice petition by the majority shareholder, where she held primary responsibility for expert evidence across two technical domains and played a central role in developing cross-examination strategy and opening submissions.
In 2022, she was awarded a full scholarship, sponsored by LALIVE, to pursue the prestigious LLM in international dispute settlement (MIDS) at Geneva, Switzerland.
Lakshana has been featured in The Lawyer’s Partnerless edition for March 2026 and has been recognised as one of the Top 20 Associates to know in 2026.
