Alex Gerbi, co-managing partner of the London office, was awarded the prestigious "Partner of the Year" award at the British Legal Awards, organised by Law.com. The award is given to lawyers who have accomplished something of great public service, changed an area of law, reshaped their industry, or made a lasting impact. It recognises individuals who have achieved success beyond their practice and have left a significant mark in their respective fields.

The award spotlights Alex's leading role, in collaboration with a dedicated QE team, in assisting Ukraine in the aftermath of Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 and applauds Alex's instrumental role in our firm’s instruction to represent Ukraine in its inter-state claim against Russia before the ECtHR concerning the war, a case the firm undertook pro bono due to its immense public and humanitarian importance. The award also acknowledges his historic victory in the Supreme Court in March 2023, which secured Ukraine's triumph in defeating Russia‘s attempt to obtain summary judgment regarding the US$3 billion bonds.
