Firm News

BOSTON, M.A. – Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, the global litigation powerhouse, named Aliki Sofis as the firm’s newest Co-Managing Partner of the Boston Office. Sofis will be serving in this role alongside Patrick D. Curran, a  Co-Managing Partner and Founder of Quinn Emanuel’s Boston Office.

Sofis is recognized nationally as an award-winning attorney and fierce advocate who gets results for her clients. She has helped score major victories throughout her career, including: serving as counsel in an expedited twelve week file-to-jury-trial in the District of Massachusetts that secured a non-infringement verdict on all asserted patents; participating in a multi-trip arbitration in Hong Kong that resulted in a $100 million award for the client (one of the largest awards ever decided in the region); and successfully securing a complete walk-away settlement on behalf of a pure defendant in a multi-million dollar dispute that was filed in federal court.

“I am honored by this appointment to Co-Managing Partner and look forward to further growing Quinn Emanuel’s Boston practice and expanding our litigation footprint. Since the office opened just six years ago, we more than quadrupled attorney headcount and we strategically expanded our work in several key sectors, including financial services, biotech, government investigations, higher education and antitrust matters,” said Aliki Sofis, Partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. Sofis also noted that she is “particularly proud that our Boston office is composed of over 20 female attorneys, representing more than half of the office. As C0-Managing Partner, I will continue to build on this legacy – seeking to recruit and retain the most competitive candidates in Boston and across New England.”

Sofis became a Partner at Quinn Emanuel in 2019, following her departure from a different preeminent global corporate law firm where she practiced for eight years. Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Sofis also served as Special Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County.

“Aliki has been a dedicated member and leader of Quinn Emanuel’s Boston Office since its inception. Her strategic approach to her cases has propelled our growth in key sectors, making our team of attorneys the go-to litigators in Boston,” said Patrick “Pat” Curran, Co-Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel’s Boston Office,  “Aliki rose to the top of her career in record pace and has demonstrated immense talent through her work on some of the firm’s most high-profile cases.”

Sofis is being named Co-Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel’s Boston Office at a time of tremendous achievement. Over the years, the office has cemented its position in Boston as the only true trial specialist with the necessary on-the-ground capabilities to handle any type of dispute at any stage.

“During her time at Quinn Emanuel, Aliki has proven to be an effective and inspiring leader with a high-level of strategic creativity to solve her clients’ most challenging issues,” said John Quinn, Founder and Chairman of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, “I look forward to celebrating the continued success this powerhouse pair will have leading our Boston practice.”

Sofis graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Providence College and received her J.D. from Boston College Law School. She is an active member of the Boston legal community, currently serving as a Committee Member for the Boston Bar Association and Boston College Law Day. Sofis has been consistently ranked by Chambers USA in General Commercial Litigation, and in 2022, she was named a Law360 Top Attorney Under 40 in the Technology Law category.
