Quinn Emanuel is proud to announce that Kathleen Sullivan, Todd Anten, and Owen Roberts have been recognized as ‘Litigators of the Week’ by ALM for their successful representation of Vimeo in a copyright case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. This legal battle dates back to 2009, when various record companies and music publishing entities sought to compel Vimeo to proactively monitor and remove users’ videos that feature allegedly infringing music. In a unanimous ruling, the Court rejected these claims, affirming the important safe harbor protections afforded by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for platforms such as Vimeo that host user-generated content.
