Quinn Emanuel partner Philippe Pinsolle has been named a 2025 MVP by Law360 in the International Arbitration category.
Law360's MVP awards honor attorneys who have distinguished themselves from their peers over the past year through high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals, and complex global matters.
Philippe is head of international arbitration for continental Europe and is based in the firm's Geneva office. With over twenty-seven years of experience, he has acted as counsel in more than 300 international arbitrations and as arbitrator in more than 75 cases.
In the past year, Philippe secured several landmark victories. In June 2024, he obtained a EUR 14 billion award for German company Uniper Global Commodities against Gazprom Export following Russia's abrupt cessation of pipeline gas deliveries after the invasion of Ukraine. In July 2025, he achieved a decisive victory for Oschadbank, the Ukrainian State-owned bank, when the Paris Court of Appeal rejected Russia's second attempt to annul a 1.3 billion arbitral award related to the 2014 invasion of Crimea. He also leads the ExxonMobil team in a major arbitration against the Netherlands concerning the Groningen gas field shutdown, securing critical interim measures in February 2025 in a dispute exceeding EUR 20 billion.
Beyond his casework, Philippe was selected by the French Ministry of Justice as one of 17 specialists tasked with proposing a reform of French arbitration law. He co-chaired the subcommittee on recourses against arbitral awards, and the group's report, issued in March 2025, proposed a groundbreaking Code of Arbitration.
Philippe has been ranked in the top ranks of virtually all arbitration rankings for more than 15 years and is regularly distinguished by Who's Who Legal as belonging to the Global Elite of thought leaders.
Congratulations to Philippe on this outstanding achievement.
