It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Nadine Herrmann. Nadine was the Hamburg office managing partner and Chair of the firm's EU and German Competition Law Practice. She passed away after a serious illness at the age of only 45.
After a stellar academic career, Nadine joined Allen & Overy, where she quickly climbed the ranks and made partner in her early 30s. She joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP in 2012, opening the firm's Hamburg office, where she developed a successful practice focused on competition and capital markets litigation. Nadine was recognized internationally as an expert litigator who was regularly awarded for her achievements. In addition, colleagues and competitors praised her impressive intellect, keen analytical eye, and described her as professionally strong and personally pleasant.
"With Nadine's passing, we are not only losing a brilliant lawyer but also a steadfast partner and a very good friend. She owed her success to her universally recognized talent, her total commitment, and her strength of character. She leaves a gap that cannot be filled," says Dr. Marcus Grosch, Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel's German offices, who worked with Nadine Herrmann for more than 15 years.
The firm's founder and chairman, John B. Quinn, expressed his deep sadness and the firm's sense of loss: "We will all remember Nadine as an outstanding, humorous, and collegial partner who contributed significantly to the success of our German practice. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to her family at this difficult time."
Quinn Emanuel will award an annual scholarship in Nadine Herrmann's name to honor her memory.
