Nicholas LoCastro is a partner in Quinn Emanuel’s New York office. His practice focuses on pharmaceutical patent litigation and pharmaceutical contract disputes. He joined the firm in 2016.
Mr. LoCastro has represented clients in Hatch-Waxman litigations involving a wide array of pharmaceutical technologies, including drug formulations and method of treatment claims.
Mr. LoCastro has experience in all stages of patent litigation, including claim construction, discovery, trial, and appeal.
Mr. LoCastro’s practice also includes counseling clients on patent strategy, IP portfolio evaluation, pharmaceutical contract disputes, and an assortment of regulatory matters.
Mr. LoCastro received his J.D. from the University of California School of Law at Los Angeles in 2016, graduating in the top-10 in his class. He earned a B.A. in history, summa cum laude, from Tufts University in 2012.

- Representing a Jazz Pharmaceuticals subsidiary in multiple Hatch-Waxman actions relating to its Epidiolex® (cannabidiol oral solution) product against multiple generic drug companies.
- Representing Jazz Pharmaceuticals in brand versus brand patent infringement and antitrust matters relating to sodium oxybate.
- Represented Chiesi Farmaceutici and its U.S. subsidiary in a Hatch-Waxman action relating to its Cleviprex® (clevidipine) drug product. After a multi-day bench trial in the District of New Jersey, the Court found all asserted claims infringed, valid, and enforceable.
- Represented Celgene Corporation in multiple Hatch-Waxman actions relating to its Pomalyst® (pomalidomide) drug product against nine generic drug companies. The actions settled favorably for Celgene, with the last settlement taking place in June 2022.
- Represented Celgene Corporation in multiple Hatch-Waxman actions and Post-Grant proceedings relating to its Revlimid® (lenalidomide) drug product. The district court actions settled favorably, and the USPTO to denied institution of multiple petitions for inter partes review from 2016 through 2019.
