Global Restructuring Review has once again included Quinn Emanuel in its GRR 100.
Our global restructuring team, with lawyers across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, advises debtors, boards, unsecured creditors’ committees, funds, and insolvency officeholders on distressed situations and contested insolvency disputes. As a litigation-only firm, we handle restructurings with trial experience and a commercial eye, and most of our mandates end in negotiated solutions.
James Tecce and Ben Finestone, both based in New York, co-lead the practice. Susheel Kirpalani, who established our bankruptcy and restructuring group, concentrates on special situations. Beau Deleuil runs our Australian insolvency and restructuring team out of Sydney. Dennis Hranitzky leads our sovereign debt practice and shares leadership of our global asset recovery practice. Richard East, who founded our London office, is also a notable member of the team.
Notable matters include:
- Oi: Representing V.tal in Oi’s US Chapter 15 proceedings, where we defeated Oi’s attempt to end the case. In April 2026, we also beat a noteholder bid to stop the sale of Oi’s stake in V.tal, which a Brazilian court had approved.
- Vesttoo: Representing Aon and White Rock Insurance in the bankruptcy of insurtech company Vesttoo, which arose amid allegations of fraud involving letters of credit. We obtained a worldwide asset freeze before Vesttoo filed, then negotiated a settlement of objections to its liquidation plan that protected White Rock and its creditors.
- Celsius: Acted for the Blockchain Recovery Investment Consortium in Celsius’s Chapter 11 plan negotiations, then represented Celsius, at the consortium’s direction, in litigation against Tether. In October 2025, that case and related claims settled for US$299.5 million.
- Tinto Holding: Represented Colorado Investment Holdings, a US affiliate of JBS, against Tinto Holding’s challenge to US$4 billion in JBS share transfers. A Florida bankruptcy court dismissed the complaint with prejudice in September 2025.
We also added to our UAE team. Dubai partner Ghalib Mahmoud joined in January 2026, having previously co-headed the restructuring and insolvency team at his former firm. Kadry Zaghawa followed in August as of counsel, based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, after advising on one of the first restructurings under the UAE’s recently activated emergency financial-crisis regime.
Congratulations to the entire team, and a special congratulations to associate Alain Jaquet on his selection for the GRR 40 Under 40 2026.
